The classification project “The Names of the Land” places value, first of all, on the origin of grapes. It is the land, the 12 villages, the 459 locations, and the estates in DOQ Priorat that add the particular singularity to vineyards that are grown in it, by following the traceability process developed by Consell Regulador de la DOQ Priorat, which allows us to guarantee, from the origin, the provenance of grapes used in wine elaboration.

Today, 51 wineries in DOQ Priorat are part of “The Names of the Land” classification project. Specifically, from the 2020 vintage and earlier, the Consell Regulador is carrying out the traceability of 41 wineries as Vi de Vila; 31 as Vi de Paratge; 3 as Vinya Classificada; 3 as Gran Vinya Classificada and 10 as Velles Vinyes.

The Consell Regulador de la DOQ Priorat updated the state of this project on 31st of December 2020, which has 3 Gran Vinya Classificada by DOQ Priorat, that peaked the “The Names of the Land” classification. They are “Vall Llach, Mas de la Rosa” by Vall Llach; “1902, Tossal d’en Bou” by Mas Doix, and “L’Ermita” by Álvaro Palacios. The latter, classified as Gran Vinya Classificada since the 2017 vintage.

The 3 wines that represent and are identified as Gran Vinya Classificada by DOQ Priorat are made using ancient grapes, of both Grenache and Carignan varieties, both recommended by Consell Regulador, as they carry the singularity of our territory: the historical Priorat.

“Vall Llach, Mas de la Rosa” by Vall Llach is a Gran Vinya Classificada since the 2019 vintage.

“1902. Tossal d’en Bou” by Mas Doix is a Gran Vinya Classificada since the 2019 vintage.
