DOQ Priorat wines were acclaimed last weekend in London during the annual “Mediterranean Fine Wine Encounter”, organized by “Decanter” wine magazine. The meeting, held on March 7, involved six wineries from DOQ Priorat as attendants, out of a total of 70 producers from all over the Mediterranean area. The guest producers from DOQ Priorat were Mas Doix, Clos Galena, Cellers Scala Dei, Clos Figueres, Marco Abella, Sangenís i Vaquer and Ferrer Bobet.

During the event a master class was held focussing on DOQ Priorat wines. The session “Discover the elegance of Priorat” was conducted by MW Sarah-Jane Evans and three of the Priorat wineries attending the meeting were involved in the master class.

This venue was the Landmark Hotel in London and this year nine countries were represented: Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Lebanon, Israel, Greece, Slovenia and Turkey.

Prior to this event, the “Decanter Man of the Year” was announced by “Decanter Magazine” and the man was Álvaro Palacios, a winemaker established in Priorat DOQ who was awarded for his work in favour of recovering traditional winemaking areas such as DOQ Priorat and el Bierzo.
